Eugene Garin, a modern seascape artist, was born in Odesa, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, in 1922. Garin was the most influential seascape artist, born in Odessa, Ukraine (then part of the Soviet Union). Through his incredible talent and vision, he generated and influenced many of today's great seascape artists. Garin's portrayal of the transparent wave was his most famous work. Garin has merged the conventional elegance of European art with current techniques devised by his own hand, influenced by Russian painter Peter Effremovich Fedatov during his adolescence in Odessa, Ukraine, and later by the works of I. K. Aivazowsky. With a long and illustrious career spanning four decades, he broke through obstacles in seascape painting technique that had held artists back for years. Garin developed powerful, yet controlled compositions using texture and a range of translucent glazes. From shipwreck vistas to beautiful moonlit ocean breakers, sun-drenched seascapes at dusk, and misty coastal coves, his compositions are unique and varied. In his works, the sea is always the dominant force; its rich beauty and vastness are reflected in each composition. Garin's strong emotional impact enthrals the imagination and arouses our inner need to test its eternal domain. His works can be found in many important collections throughout the world, including Canada, England, South America, South Africa, Japan, Mexico, and Russia, as well as hundreds of private collections in the United States. Eugene Garin is an artist who appeals to both novice and seasoned collectors. In Who's Who in California and the American Art Analog, he is listed. Garin's work can be seen in the permanent collections of the Russian consulate in San Francisco and the Panamanian Presidential Palace. Garin's work has been featured in national magazines and has been on public exhibit around the world. Garin's position in history is guaranteed, as he is admired by art critics and his contemporaries.
