Spectacular Vintage Set of 6 100gr. Silver Plate Spoons. ‘Gero Zilvium’, Manufactured of silverwhite Gero-metal plated with heavy coat of pure silver. Marius Johannes Gerritsen, who left his father's factory in 1909 to create his own firm with his brother-in-law and business partner Julius ter Beek, started the Gero factory. Marius Gerritsen was granted an honourable discharge in 1922 as a result of a fight over the balance in 1921 between Marius Gerritsen and his brother-in-law H.Simonis, and therefore also between Marius Gerritsen's father. Gerrowé, later called Sola, was formed by Marius Gerritsen after he left Gero. The Gero plant used a variety of alloys over the course of its history. The Gero factory produced items in 'New-silver,' also known as Alpacca, and Gerozilver, a silver-plated white metal. Gero also produced pewter items known as Gero-tin. Because the term Gerozilver caused confusion, Gero was forced to modify the name to Gero Zilvium in 1952 under new Hallmark standards.
