This Empire Aristocrat typewriter was made in 1958 by the British Typewriter Co in West Bromwich, England who had a license from Paillard 's in Switzerland to make this design which mirrors the Hermes Baby typewriters. The shift, backspace, and margin release keys on this keyboard are marked in red, and it has dark green/grey keys with a faint textured finish to the metal body. There are 13 letters to the inch thanks to the "elite" sized type face. Please be aware that this machine can only use ribbon in one colour. On this one, a two-tone ribbon is not acceptable. It has only a few slight scratches to the paintwork, mostly at the front and back corners from where the carry case has rubbed over time, and some very little wear to a few of the keys. Otherwise, it is in good shape considering its age.
