WOOD, Graham Graham Wood founded Wartook Pottery in the early 1970s, and it was a huge success for about 25 years. Canister made of hand-thrown ceramic with a 'Gum Leaf' motif. According to decorator Wendy McGuiness, all of the decorations were produced and applied by hand, which took a long time. A piece of coral was used to provide texture to the body of each piece. The tops of the pieces were covered in tenmoku glaze, while the main body was covered in iron oxide. This was the first Wartook model to be commercially released in Australia, in 1987. Wartook Pottery employed 5 people at its peak, including a new wheel potter (who was adept at creating the pieces as Graham had done before). A flowery wreath (slip cast) was put to the top of each pot on an additional range, as well as a range that used decals for ornamentation. In 1998, it relocated to Halls Gap and changed its name to Jimmy's Creek Pottery. The ceramics was produced under that name until 2003, when the firm was harmed by low-cost imports. Vintage Ceramic Canister/Vase comes in Excellent Condition.
