Vintage scales manufactured by Mercury Scale Co. Ltd in Thebarton South Australia. Designed for medical use, featuring a large platform for standing and a smaller pan. 
This device functions as a mechanical beam-balance scale. Instead of using springs or electronic sensors, it relies on physical counterweights and a lever mechanism located under the floor platform. It utilises a primary sliding poise on the upper metallic balance beam for initial adjustments, paired with a suspended hanging counterweight pan on the far right side. The operator places standardised iron weights onto the pan to offset heavy loads, then fine-tunes the measurement using the sliding weight across the graduated beam.
