Welsh painter Margaret Lindsay Williams, who was born in 1888, received commissions to create portraits of the British royal family, European aristocracy, and American presidents. She was most recognised for her portrait work, which includes paintings of Princess Margaret, Queen Mary, Queen Alexandra, and at least five pictures of the reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. She also painted Henry Ford, Field Marshal Slim, and President Warren Harding. Williams was well-known and received a lot of praise during her lifetime, but her work has since fallen into disuse.
