Tavaro, S.A., established in 1934 in Geneva, Switzerland, was the first company to design and produce Elna sewing machines and Elnapress ironing presses. Sewing machines made by Elna are renowned for their dependability, high quality, simplicity of use, and stylish designs. Since the early 1940s, Elna goods have been sold and serviced in the US. Up until 1986, independent distributors served as Elna's American representatives. Tavaro chose to establish a subsidiary in the United States due to the expanding significance of the American sewing machine market. Tavaro established Elna, Inc. as a subsidiary on April 21, 1986. Since then, Elna's business in the US has more than doubled. Tacony Corporation, a reputable sewing machine distributor, acquired the U.S. distribution rights from Elna International in 1996 to better serve this booming market.
