In 1872, August Alboth established his porcelain decoration business in Coburg. Porzellanveredelung August Alboth was the name of the company. In 1875, his son Ernst joined the company. August Alboth retired in 1898, and his successor moved the production to Kronach. Ernst Alboth had a son, Willy, and a daughter, Erna. Erna married Georg Kaiser, a Munich banker, in 1922. In 1925, Willy Alboth joined the management team. In 1927, Ernst Alboth passed away. The name of the corporation was changed to "Alka-Kunst." From 1928 to 1951, the Porzellanfabrik AL-KA Kunst Alboth & Kaiser was in operation. The former Gebrüder Silbermann porcelain factory in Hausen was purchased by the business in 1938. The Porzellanfabrik AL-KA Kunst Alboth & Kaiser K.G. was founded in 1951. Georg Kaiser, Willy Alboth, and Hubertus Kaiser (Georg's son) served on the board of directors. In Staffelstein, near Kronach, a new factory was built. Staffelstein's Alka Porzellanfabriken Alboth & Kaiser K.G. existed until 1970. In 1964, Georg Kaiser passed away. Kaiser-Porzellanmanufaktur Staffelstein K.G. was founded in 1970. Following German reunification, the porcelain industry in the country experienced an upsurge in challenges.
