Emanuel Phillips Fox was an Australian impressionist painter. ox went to Paris to study in 1886 after finishing his studies at the National Gallery of Victoria Art School in Melbourne. He didn't return to Melbourne until 1892, at which point he oversaw what is thought regarded as the second phase of the Heidelberg School, an impressionist art movement that had flourished there while he was away. He had spent the previous five years in Europe. around the early 20th century, he traveled for more than ten years around Europe before deciding to settle in Melbourne, where he passed away.
