English painter Edward Stott worked during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He studied under Carolus Duran in Paris and was greatly affected by Bastien-rustic Lepage's naturalism and the Impressionists' paintings, which he combined with the English landscape tradition of John Linnell and Samuel Palmer. He moved to a remote area of Sussex in the middle of the 1880s, where he became the centre of an artistic community. His speciality was painting scenes of everyday country life, including farming, domestic activities, and the surrounding landscapes, frequently in fading light. During his lifetime, Stott's artwork enjoyed critical acclaim and financial success both domestically and in Europe; but, following the First World War, his painting style fell out of favour, and the majority of his output is now disregarded and unappreciated. Print comes Framed and in Excellent Original Condition.
