This book was first published in 1974 by Academy Editions. It was co-edited by Peake’s widow, Maeve Gilmore, and Shelagh Johnson. The volume serves as a comprehensive miscellany and an essential resource for admirers of Mervyn Peake, a prolific 20th-century British author and artist best known for the Gormenghast series.
