Royal Stafford was founded in March 1992 by the merger of two well-known ceramic firms, Royal Stafford China and Barratts of Staffordshire, both of which had a long and illustrious history. Thomas Poole founded Royal Stafford in the town of Longton in 1845. The Royal Overhouse Manufactory, home to Barratts of Staffs, is one of Burslem's oldest Factories, having owned to the Wedgwood family for two centuries. It is recorded that it passed to Thomas, Josiah's older brother, "the father of English potters," in 1756. Collectible Set comes with Original Maker’s Mark from C.1940s.
